Deepa Gupta

President

As President and Director, Mrs. Gupta is the leadership behind the development of the long-term vision for the Corporation, and is responsible for its enactment. Mrs. Gupta has vast experience in Non-profit and theatre development, and her current position as a Program Officer at the MacArthur Foundation, in which she overseeing all grants in arts and culture totaling $7 million annually will aid in the further development of the Corporation. The position requires a review of the soundness of arts organizations’ (including theatres) artistic, organizational and governance capacities/capabilities in order to make decisions about grant making. In addition, she designs programs to strengthen the arts and culture sector in the city of Chicago. Examples of grant programs designed include a short-term bridge loan program for small and medium sized arts groups, the strengthening of board governance by cultivating new channels to identify and recruit talented, potential board members for small and medium sized arts organizations, and a fund to support the capacity and organizational development of culturally specific arts organizations. From 2005-2008, Mrs. Gupta served as a Management Consultant with McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm, where she advised senior officers of public, private and charitable organizations including United Nations agencies, private health care companies in the United States, state governments, and the city of Chicago. She currently serves on the Board of the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois. Degrees include: 1998 - University of Chicago, (AB with honors Public Policy and Biology) 2005 - Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management, (Masters in Business Administration) 2005 - Harvard University, (Kennedy School of Government, Masters in Public Administration).
