Johnna Adams

Johnna Adams is currently pursuing an MFA in Playwriting at Hunter College in New York with Tina Howe and with Mark Bly. Her play Sans Merci received a reading at The New Group in March of 2009 (featuring Judith Ivey). Sans Merci was the 2008-2009 Reva Shiner Award winner, and was produced by the Bloomington Playwrights Project in October of 2008. Sans Merci was a finalist for the Princess Grace Award and the Abingdon Theater Company’s Christopher Brian Wolk Award and a semifinalist for the O’Neil Playwrights Conference and The Playwrights Center Playlabs Festival.
Her play Hripsime was a finalist for the 2010 William Saroyan Prize, presented by the Armenian Dramatic Arts Alliance.
Her play Lickspittles, Buttonholers, and Damned Pernicious Go-Betweens was given a reading by Flux Theatre Ensemble (New York, NY) in the spring of 2010 and will be produced by Impetuous Theatre in 2012.
Flux Theatre Ensemble (New York, NY) produced Johnna’s trilogy of full length plays, The Angel Eaters Trilogy in November of 2008. The trilogy was nominated for seven 2009 New York Innovative Theater awards, including Best Original Full Length Play and was a www.nytheatre.com pick of the week.

Johnna graduated from the DePaul University Theatre School with a BFA in Acting.
