We’re Growing and It’s All Because of You…

In 2011, Project Y developed new American works and as a result, we gave voice to 17 new projects from 17 different writers. All of our programs in 2011 including the Racey Plays Reading Series, NYC Site/Sight Specific Videologues, and the New York New Playwright Festival, were all world premieres.
2011 brought incredible recognition for Project Y. Our 2010 production of The Revival was nominated for 7 NY Innovative Theatre Awards (Off-Off Broadway) with wins for Supporting Actor (David Darrow) and Set Design (Kevin Judge). The New York State Council on the Arts awarded us our first grant, a true honor and landmark for an evolving theatre company.
New writers and plays fill our upcoming season. As part of our 2012 Reading Series, Holy Cow! Religion, Faith, and Life after Death, we are presenting the first reading of Pulitzer Prize nominee Lee Blessing’s newest play.
February 2012 brings our most exciting project to date: LoveSick, a rock concert musical that has been an incubation project for the past four years. First a reading in 2008, then a series of scenes that we filmed guerilla-style in 2009, LoveSick later became a workshop production in 2010 in which we added all the musical elements to the show. Now, in February 2012 we are producing our longest run yet at 59E59 Theater with a cast of 14 actors and a live band.
In addition, our Videologue Contest continues and a development workshop of Sean Christopher Lewis’ play Goodness is planned for March with a workshop production planned in May.
Project Y’s 2012 season is our most ambitious: videos, readings, blogs, workshops, and a world premiere musical. Every person who has ever supported Project Y has always done so because of they have been touched by the theatre we produce, or supporting the efforts of a someone in whom they believe. We thank you for this trust, and for your belief in us.
Please support our growth, as none of this happens without you.
