Our 2014 reading series begins this week with a reading of Deborah Zoe Laufer’s INFORMED CONSENT.
2014 marks a new chapter for Project Y, as we launch our first ever writers group, begin our first tour, and kick off Techno Plays reading series. This series seeks to present plays by up and coming writers dealing with themes of science, technology, and their impact on and relationship to human connection. As theatre makers in the digital age, we are looking for ways of further deepening our connection to our work, to our audiences, and to our community. The science and technological advances of the past 20 years have changed the nature of what defines our community, our audiences, and indeed the way we look at the world and approach our work. We are excited by the line up of playwrights in this year’s series, and can think of no better play to tackle some of the issues of science, technology, and being human as Informed Consent, by Deborah Zoe Laufer.
The play deals with DNA testing, human relationships, and the balance between individual’s needs and the ever expanding frontiers of science.
