SITE/SIGHT Video Monologue Contest Winners

We are thrilled to announce the winners of our SITE/SIGHT Video Monologue Contest. A little over a year ago, we posted a challenge on our blog to write a short script 60 seconds in length that was “SIGHT specific” – about an event witnessed and/or experienced and “SITE specific” – set in a specific NYC location. This past year, we cast and shot all the scripts. We are excited to share these short films with you written by some incredible writers. Please enjoy and share…

THE BIRD (Wall Street) written by Mike Mariano, directed by Michole Biancosino, and starring Andrew Smith. Mike Mariano lives in New Jersey and writes plays that will make you happy.

COLUMBUS CIRCLE written by Leah Benavides, directed by Michole Biancosino. Leah Benavides is the co-founder of DreamStem Productions, she received critical acclaim for directing her recent production of Cowboy Mouth.

NO DRAMA (Hell’s Kitchen) written by Benjamin Adair Murphy, directed by Michole Biancosino. Benjamin Adair Murphy’s plays have been performed in New York, Chicago, Boston, and a few other less densely populated areas.

SOUTH FERRY written by Bara Swain, directed by Michole Biancosino. “An Evening with Bara Swain,” a series of 8 short plays, was recently performed at the Burt Reynolds Institute of Film and Theatre in Jupiter, Florida, and were directed by Mr. Reynolds himself. Her award-winning play, PRIZED BEGONIAS, has recently been adapted into a screenplay and post-production has been completed.

THE GUGGENHEIM (Wall Street) written by Catherine Weingarten, directed by Michole Biancosino. Catherine Weingarten is a senior drama student at Bennington College and likes Wendy Wasserstein and old fashioned peach flavored ice cream.

Announcing: 2nd Annual Video Monologue Contest

Sight/Site Specific Video Monologues: NYC

We are looking for 60 second monologues about incredible sights at incredible sites in New York City.Were you recently chilling on the Great Lawn in Central Park with a friend and ended up witnessing a mugging?

While waiting on the subway platform for the F train did you get flashed by a woman in a trench coat?

Were you sipping coffee in a café near the GW Bridge when you looked up to meet your future fiance? Write about it!

We want your 60 second submission about amazing sights at amazing locations – sight/site specific monologues about incredible events at specific spots in NYC.

Your monologue should be:

“Sight specific” – about an event you witnessed/experienced and “site specific” – set in a specific NYC location andaround 60 seconds in length (hint: that’s way less than a page in length).

Submissions should be sent to [email protected] IN THE BODY OF THE EMAIL no later than May 20, 2011. NO ATTACHMENTS WILL BE OPENED.

We will choose our top 5 choices to be announced on our blog and website June 25, 2011. The 5 winning monologues will be cast, shot, and fully produced by Project Y and released on our website and YouTube.
